Hiking at Takamizu-sanzan

Friday, May 23, 2014

Last Sunday I went hiking at Takamizu-sanzan, which means "The Three Mountains of Takamizu." I went with a club called Yama no Kai (山の会). Apparently this hike was "easy" to "moderate," because according to the leader of the club, "hard" hikes are ones where you die if you fall.

These mountains were quite a-ways away from Tokyo, about an hour and a half. When we first got off the train this is what I saw. Very rural.

We walked along the road for a while to get to the actual entrance to the hiking trail.

We passed by a really cute shrine.

Then we hiked.

Here is a view from one of the peaks.

About halfway through, we stumbled across a temple. They were selling water for 200 yen (like $2), which is about double the price of normal water so I took a picture in my indignation. I don't know, for some reason I always feel proud of myself when I find cheap/free water.

We stopped for lunch at the top, and the view was really beautiful.

Some Japanese guys eating lunch. Peaceful.
