Fuji Shibazakura Festival
Tuesday, May 27, 2014
I went down to Kawaguchi near Mount Fuji last Sunday to check out the Shibazakura Festival. In English, shibazakura is "moss phlox," which I'm not sure if I've ever seen before, but they were basically just bright pink flowers landscaped into cool designs.
It took us all morning to get to Kawaguchi and then to the site of the festival, so the first thing we did was stop for lunch. Festivals typically always have some food stands with delicious foods like yakisoba.
Take note that this van sold "France Dogs," which I guess are hot dogs in a croissant. You learn new things every day.
After we ate, we walked around the field to look at the flowers. This was the last week of the festival so I think the flowers were thinning out and turning into grass in a lot of places, but it still looked really cool.
It was a cloudy day, so we unfortunately couldn't see Mount Fuji. If it had been clearer you would have been able to see it in the picture above. I actually think you can see a bit of the edge though.
Found some testicle flowers.
And a lake.

Testicle flowers? Is that really what they are called? Phlox is easily found around here.. they have it planted all over the place at Nall's on Beulah, but this is sooo beautiful! love all the pics.
ReplyDeleteIt's not what they're called but they should be called that because that's what they look like.
